In the spring of 2026 we will run two Family Connection Groups for mothers of children ages 0-5:

  • One group for local moms in Westmoreland County, PA
  • One group for moms globally
Family Connection Groups bring together mothers of children ages 0-5 to share in their everyday experiences caring for their children. The groups are designed to build connection and community and offer grounding wisdom in the early years of motherhood. During sessions, we draw from the legacy of Fred Rogers and discuss the Six Fundamentals of Learning and Growing (self worth, trust, curiosity, solitude, looking and listening carefully, and play) and how these connect to being a mom of young children. This is not a class, but an opportunity to connect with, and be supported by, other parents!

Family Connection Groups will take place online via Zoom twice per month through the spring. We hope moms will engage in meetings however they are comfortable and able - at home with a child on your lap, at work on a lunch break, or in the car driving to work.

This program is free to join, but space is limited!

The Fred Rogers Institute is committed to learning from and growing these connection groups to provide community-building group opportunities to a wider range of parents and caregivers. Stay tuned!
