The world lost a legendary musical giant last month when Tony Bennett died. We’re left with our memories and treasured recordings. I wonder if you knew that one of those recordings was from our very own Neighborhood – in 1975. Not with Lady Gaga – but with Lady Elaine!
I thought you might like to know how that came about, and I figured David Newell (Mr. McFeely and our PR Director) with his remarkable memory could tell us the story. It was an ordinary day when David remembers answering a phone call from Tony Bennett’s agent. He said Tony was going to be performing in Pittsburgh and wanted to meet Fred because his older daughter, who was about 5 years old at the time, was a big fan of the Neighborhood.
Transition Times
February 2024: The other day in the dentist's office, I found myself quoting a Fred song - "I like to be told." I was thanking the hygienist for letting me know what to expect, each step of the way. As Fred sang, "It helps me to get ready for all those things that are new...I trust you more and more..."
January 2024: We live in a world where we've come to expect instant gratification. We expect immediate answers to our emails. We expect next-day deliveries for our online orders. We expect our microwaved food to be ready in seconds. No wonder we get upset when we have to wait.
