Sounds of the Neighborhood:

A Classical Tribute Featuring the Pianos of Fred and Joanne Rogers with Gloria Cook and Cynthia Lawing
For the first time, on June 3rd, 2026, Fred Rogers’ Steinway and Joanne Rogers’ Bechstein pianos were moved from the Fred Rogers Institute office and played publicly once again. Following Fred’s passing in 2003 and Joanne’s in 2021, each piano was gifted to the Fred Rogers Institute, making the evening a rare and meaningful opportunity to hear these beloved instruments come to life once more.

The concert honored both Fred and Joanne Rogers not only for their lasting impact on children and families, but also for their deep love of music. The evening featured performances by Gloria Cook and Cynthia Lawing, accomplished pianists and sisters.

The program began with “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” an arrangement by Daniel Crozier, Fred Rogers’ nephew, featuring classics from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. The evening then continued with an elegant selection of classical piano works.

If you were unable to register for the in-person event on June 3rd, stay tuned. A recording will be available on our website soon. We will announce its release on our social media channels once it becomes available.
