Our Team

Margie Lee is a Transformation Coach with the South Carolina Department of Education, where she partners with school leaders and educators to support school improvement, instructional practice, and school culture. During her career, she has served as a special education teacher, school administrator, and state-level coach and has supported schools across South Carolina in their transformation efforts. Margie holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and is completing her doctorate in Curriculum and Assessment at Southern Wesleyan University. Her professional interests center on middle level education, school improvement, literacy, adolescent development, school connectedness, and the relationships that help young people thrive. 

Margie first became involved with Educators’ Neighborhood in 2025 and has continued exploring how Fred Rogers’ six fundamentals of learning and growing can shape the way educators build relationships with young people and adults alike. Her participation in the Simple Interactions Cohort has deepened her beliefs in looking for the strengths already present in children, adults, and communities and relationships are at the center of all learning. As a 2026–27 Inquiry Educator, Margie is exploring how shared experiences from the Fred Rogers Archive can create intergenerational storytelling opportunities that connect middle school students with trusted adults. At the heart of her inquiry is a simple idea: adolescents need a neighborhood of people who know them, listen to them, notice their strengths and accomplishments, and notice when they need support. She hopes her work will help create more of those connections for young people and adults in her neighborhood.
